RETURNING STUDENT QUESTIONNAIRE

We need to confirm our student numbers for next year. This information allows us to avoid overcrowding, retain staff, and accept waitlisted students if there is a space. You can help by completing and returning one letter (attached at end of newsletter) for each student currently attending Park Hill grades ECE through 4th grade by May 13, 2019.

PARENTS’ NIGHT OUT – MAY 10

All students 1-5 will be together. Kindergarten, ECE, and potty-trained young siblings will be together in a Kindergarten classroom. The 5th graders will have their very own “Club 5th Grade.” We’ll have pizza and snacks and our main activities will be movies in the auditorium, games in the gym, a quiet room for board games and reading and art with Ceramics in the City!  Use our convenient and credit card ready school store at https://bit.ly/2HRpQ7W.

DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP SAFETY

If you’re running late, school is not the place where you should make up time.  We understand that our drop-off / pick-up scenario here at Park Hill is not ideal.  However, for the safety of our students and our community, it is IMPERATIVE that our parents follow the simple traffic laws around our building:

PLEASE DO NOT:

  • Park where you are blocking someone’s driveway (even partially)
  • Park in a NO PARKING zone
  • Speed through the neighborhood (especially around the school)
  • Park in the Staff Parking Lot
  • Be RUDE

PLEASE DO:

  • Be PATIENT and COURTEOUS and PRESENT when you are dropping-off / picking-up
  • Drive SLOWLY though the neighborhood (especially around the school)
  • Plan accordingly – give yourself enough time in the morning or afternoon to arrive ON TIME
  • Park in designated areas only
  • Use Kiss and Drop on the West side of the building
  • Write down the license plate number and report any wrongdoings you witness

Take a deep breath, follow the rules, and drive safely.  Being on time for your morning meeting or an after school playdate or soccer practice is NOT more important than the safety of our community.

City and County of Denver

The City and County of Denver has collected neighborhood ideas and developed recommendations for the city’s East Area and the neighborhoods of South Park Hill, Hale, Montclair and East Colfax. These initiatives include items such as: design quality and neighborhood character, sidewalks and bikes lanes, small businesses, parks and water quality features, affordable housing and healthy food options. As part of this process, the city is inviting people who live and/or work in these neighborhoods to help provide feedback on these plans at a meeting on Tuesday, May 14.

You can also find more information on this planning process at denvergov.org/eastplan.
