FRIDAY FOLDER BULLETIN, SEPTEMBER 20, 2019

Direct Giving/Outdoor Movie Night – THIS FRIDAY September 20 starting at 5:30 pm
Direct Giving is one of our top three fundraisers throughout the year. There will be a half dozen food trucks, some bounce houses, and “Pets 2” will play on a huge screen in the grass. Bring lawn chairs and/or a picnic blanket. Enjoy the food truck offerings (rumor has it there will be sushi!) and/or bring a picnic supper from home.

Direct Giving is also the single fundraiser that puts money directly into your child’s classroom THIS year. EACH dollar given to your child’s grade gets spent by their teaching team this year. In previous years, this money has purchased new sets of books for each classroom, alternative seating, additional field trips, items for science, etc.

We will have a table set up to drop cash or checks into jars labeled with each grade. We’ll also process credit card donations if that’s easier for your family. We can even set up recurring donations. Student PTSA leaders will be wandering the field asking for donations as well. All donations are completely voluntary. If you’re unable to join us and would like to make a donation, please do so here.

Whether or not you choose to donate financially, we would love for your family and friends to join us Friday evening! This is really one of my favorite events!

STATEWIDE OCTOBER COUNT of ALL STUDENTS ATTENDING PUBLIC SCHOOLS

October Count on October 2 this year is the official student membership count for all Colorado public school districts mandated by the Colorado Department of Education.  The school district receives an annual average of $7,400 in pupil operating revenue for each student counted accurately.

We appreciate the attendance of our students each and every day.  However, on October 2, we are asking families to bring their students to school on time and avoid scheduling doctor and dentist appointments on the day if possible.  We are able to count students if they are here only part of a day, but it is much easier if they are here all day.  Please do not bring your student to school if they are sick.  We will be able to count your student when they return after an illness.

Each student will be asked to either sign a special class roster on October 2 or complete a special assignment just for October Count.  Any classroom with perfect attendance will be given an extra recess (when the teacher decides) and each student will be given 5 roar tickets just for coming to school on October 2.

Intersection Painting

Come paint the town — well not the town but the street — to create awareness for pedestrian safety and climate change! Greater Park Hill Community and the Denver Community Active Living Coalition are partnering to create a series of murals at all four Park Hill elementary schools, 2 in the fall and 2 in the spring. The design for PHE will feature a Park Hill Panther! Join us Saturday, October 28th at Elm Street and 19th. Setup starts at 7am and clean up until 1pm. We need all ages and types of volunteers for painting and more. Sign up now! Looking forward to seeing you there!

INDIVIDUAL PICTURE DAY IS COMING!! – October 2 – 3

Check with your student to make certain they brought home the Picture Day order form.  You may order individual pictures before picture day on mylifetouch.com using your picture day ID:  CG949231Y0.  If you do not order online, please fill in the order form completely, enclose EXACT payment, and return to school on picture day.  To pay by cash or check, please fill out the entire form.  Enclose cash, money order, or check payable to LIFETOUCH.  Photographer won’t make change and you will need a separate form for each student.  Teachers will be communicating the day / time your child will have their photo taken.

School Spirit Store
The Official Park Hill Elementary school store is open!  This year’s store features a new design, and more choices.   Orders will be taken online only through Monday, Oct. 7th, and will be delivered to the school for pickup shortly after.   Many shirts are available in your choice of black, red, grey, or white.   Kid’s sizes are available in several styles as well, and we’re sure you’ll find that prices are quite reasonable!  Get your school spirit gear here:
