Classroom / Locker Item Pickup
9am – 10am ~ 1st graders (students and/or parents) will come to the staff parking lot behind the school for item pickup. Please come into the parking lot through the North entrance near the dumpsters, and exit through the South into the alley.
10am – 11am ~ 2nd graders (same plan as above)
11am – Noon ~ 3rd graders (same plan as above)
Noon – 1pm ~ 4th graders (same plan as above)
1pm – 2pm ~ By appointment, made via email with Mr. Burdette
PLEASE NOTE – ECE, K and 5th will have their materials delivered. You do not need to come and pick-up.

- YOU MAY RETURN SCHOOL LIBRARY BOOKS AT THIS TIME.
- YOU ARE KEEPING YOUR TECH DEVICE. PLEASE DO NOT RETURN THE DEVICE UNLESS YOU ARE LEAVING DPS.
LOCATION: All item pick-up will take place in the staff parking lot behind the school. Masks will be required for your safety as well as the safety of our staff. Per district guidelines, we cannot have anyone getting out of their vehicles. We ask that if you can, please come in a vehicle. If you are not able to pick up items in a vehicle, we will have a walk-up/bike-up area.
YMCA After School Care Program
We understand that registering for our new YMCA After School Care Program is a priority and that many of our families have pressing questions. However, we cannot do a registration link until we have guidance from the city and the state and health officials about capacity and staffing ratios, etc. So thank you very much for your patience and understanding. We will get you answers as soon as we possibly can.

Kindergarten families – We will do a car parade in front of the school on Wednesday, May 27. Teachers will be emailing parents with directions. We are encouraging families to drive from west to east down 19th in their half hour time slot.

Kindergarten & 5th Grade – Photos with “Congrats” Sign
Congratulations to our Kindergarten and 5th Grade graduates and their families! A big, beautiful “Congrats, Grads!” yard sign will be up in front of the school on Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28. If you would like to take a picture of your graduating student with the yard sign, please help us keep everyone safe and healthy by following these guidelines:
Wednesday, May 27: Available hours for pictures are approximately 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM or 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Please do not plan to take pictures between 1:30 and 4:30 PM, as the Kindergarten Car Parade will be taking place at this time.
Thursday, May 28: Available hours for pictures are approximately 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM or 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Please do not plan to take pictures between 1:30 and 3:30 PM, as the 5th Grade Car Parade will be taking place at this time.
General guidelines regarding use of the Yard Sign:
- The sign will be taken down each night, please stick to time frames above for pictures.
- Please use common sense to help ensure appropriate physical distancing between families.
- Wear masks when those outside your family are present and communicate from an appropriate distance to help the students take turns posing for pictures.
- The sign is rented from a Park Hill Elementary family (firstname.lastname@example.org), please help keep it looking nice and clean!
Returning Student Questionnaire
We need to confirm our student numbers for next year. This information allows us to avoid overcrowding, retain staff, and accept waitlisted students if there is a space. Please see the worksheet ‘Returning Student Questionnaire’ at the end of this bulletin for more information. If you can’t fill out the form, please just send Ann the information in an email.
Student Access to Denver Public Library Tech During the Summer
These last few months have been like no other for all of us. We thank you for your commitment to your child’s education and patience as we navigated a new system for learning. Before we leave you for the summer we want to give you a few resources and tips so that your children will continue with their learning.
The Denver Public Library’s Summer of Adventure program aims to reduce the summer slide by providing fun and engaging activities for youth while they are out of school. Research tells us that students can lose over 40% of their learning in reading, writing, and math over the summer. Our goal is to stop the summer slide! To do this we need your help! Here is a list of things you can do to help your kids grow their knowledge over the summer instead of losing it!
- Register your child(ren) for the Denver Public Library’s 2020 Summer of Adventure program. Children, birth through 12th grade, can register at denverlibraryadventures.org or by phone at 720-865-1111.
- READ, READ, READ! Set a goal of reading at least 20 minutes daily. The Denver Public Library is a great place for free ebooks and audio ebooks! To learn more go to denverlibrary.org
- Take family field trips! You don’t have to go far. Visit your local park, take a road trip, or go on a virtual tour of a museum in another country. As you explore together, have conversations about the experience.
‘Early Bird’ Annual Family Update
The “Early Bird” window for Annual Family Update is May 1 through May 31 at 4 p.m. All information for current students must be verified with DPS every year. By completing this process online, you avoid paper forms and decrease the time you spend at the school, and in line, during fall registration.
In order to participate in the online Annual Family Update, you must have an active DPS Parent Portal account – click here to sign up, or to check that your account is active and ready (you will need your student’s ID number in order to create an account – if you do not know your student’s ID number, you may email Ann Kurth at email@example.com). Annual Family Update will also be available this summer beginning July 20. For more information on how to complete Annual Family Update, contact Park Hill School or visit schoolchoice.dpsk12.org. (Recommended browsers to complete Annual Family Update are Google Chrome or Firefox).
- If the browser you are using is erroring out or is not working, try another browser.
- Answer EVERY question – if you forget to complete something, the system will prevent you from moving forward.
- SAVE, SAVE, SAVE – Make sure you are saving multiple times while you are completing the update.

Please send Mrs. Horeis a picture from your Field Day – by Sunday, May 24th (Over-the-top instructions, but for the sanity of Mrs. Horeis, please read!)
Mrs. Horeis plans to make an iMovie for each grade of the Field Day events. There are about 700 kids at Park Hill, so it is a lot to manage. I need your help. Please only send ONE picture. Label it with the grade and name – 4th Sally. I will post the iMovie on YouTube as unlisted, so only those with a link can see it. If you do not want that on YouTube, please do not send the picture.

- Double click on your child’s grade to open it up
- In the upper left hand corner, click on New +
- It will allow you to browse your computer
- Click on the File to Upload
If you do not have access to google drive, you can email me. Google Drive is preferable so I do not have to open 700 emails, and download each individual picture and save it. But if you do not have Google Drive, by all means, send it in an email, Kitty_horeis@dpsk12.org.
