5th Grade Continuation Celebration

5th grade families – SAVE THE DATE for the end of year celebration.  We will do a car parade in front of the school on Thursday, May 28, from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm.  More communication to come from Mr. Burdette as well as the room parents.

Community Donation Opportunity

We have heard from members of our school community that they would like to help others in our school community. We’ve put a donation button on the PTSA website to collect donations. Principal Burdette, Maggie Bixby, Mary Beth Carlson, and Cheryl Cohen will help distribute your donations to our school families who might need a little help right now. If you’re in need, please email Mr. Burdette.

Locker Clean-Out and Item Pick-up

As school winds down, it is time to start thinking about clearing our lockers and picking up any materials still at the school.  Unfortunately, students and parents are not allowed to enter the school building at this time due to the COVID-19 health measures.  Instead, parents are asked to come to the exterior of the school to pick up items during a designated time, similar to how we handled the device distribution back in March.  We plan to do this the week of May 26 – May 29. 

On Monday, you will receive a google survey in a separate email from the school regarding picking up items still at the building. I ask that you only come and pick up items that are deemed essential for the summer, as facilitating close to 700 student pick-ups can present its own challenges.  For example, in grades K – 4th, we would prefer that students not pick up their writing journals, math journals, etc unless they plan to use them over the summer. Student work will be stored in a box in the classroom over the summer for those who wish to pick up when school resumes in the Fall.  In 5th grade, we realize you may have a few more requests, as this is your last year at the school.  As for lockers, we will do the cleaning of lockers, so students do not need to worry about this.  We only aim to distribute materials that students need over the summer.  Thank you in advance.

Returning Student Questionnaire

We need to confirm our student numbers for next year. This information allows us to avoid overcrowding, retain staff, and accept waitlisted students if there is a space.  Please see the worksheet ‘Returning Student Questionnaire’ at the end of this bulletin for more information.

YMCA Update

We know many of you have questions regarding the YMCA registration process. Mr. Burdette spoke with the Executive Director today, and they have been swamped with summer camp planning. He will have information to send to parents by next week. Please expect a separate email on this by the end of next week.

Coffee With Ken – Friday, May 15 @ 8:00 am

The main topic of conversation will be the reopening of school in the Fall, and what we can anticipate this will look like.  Please also see the email from our Superintendent that was sent last night.

‘Early Bird’ Annual Family Update

Save time during fall registration by quickly updating your student’s information online this spring. The “Early Bird” window for Annual Family Update is May 1 through May 31 at 4 p.m. All information for current students must be verified with DPS every year. By completing this process online, you avoid paper forms and decrease the time you spend at the school, and in line, during fall registration.

In order to participate in the online Annual Family Update, you must have an active DPS Parent Portal account – click here to sign up, or to check that your account is active and ready (you will need your student’s ID number in order to create an account – if you do not know your student’s ID number, you may email Ann Kurth at ann_kurth@dpsk12.org). Annual Family Update will also be available this summer beginning July 20. For more information on how to complete Annual Family Update, contact Park Hill School or visit schoolchoice.dpsk12.org.  (Recommended browsers to complete Annual Family Update are Google Chrome or Firefox).

Ahorren tiempo durante las inscripciones de otoño al actualizar rápidamente la información de su estudiante en línea esta primavera. El plazo anticipado de la Actualización Familiar Anual es del 1 al 31 de mayo, a las 4 p. m. Como saben, toda la información de los estudiantes actuales debe verificarse anualmente en DPS. Al completar este proceso en línea, no tienen que llenar los formularios impresos ni pasar tanto tiempo en la escuela ni hacer cola durante las inscripciones de otoño.
