Dear PHE Parents:

We want to make you aware of an important modification to our current COVID-19 exposure notification process. Due to an increase in cases at the school, we will suspend sending notifications about exposures to allow us to focus resources on our primary work – caring for and educating students. To this end, we would like your continued partnership in keeping our community as healthy and safe as possible and ask for your assistance in mitigating the spread of infection.

Given the current status of Covid in Denver and nation-wide, infected students will be required to isolate following the guidance from DPS and the CDC, but notifications to each homeroom for each case will cease unless there are multiple cases in a single setting and/or an outbreak.  We know Covid is in our school, and unfortunately, there is no way to avoid it.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP STOP THE SPREAD

  • Continue to monitor for symptoms.
  • Keep your student home if developing even mild symptoms. Children need to be symptom free for at least 24 hours prior to returning to school.  COVID-19 illness may include any of the following symptoms: Fever, loss of taste or smell, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose or congestion, headache, nausea or vomiting, body aches, diarrhea
  • Pursue testing if you are aware of any exposure to a positive case.
  • If awaiting a COVID-19 test result, do not return to campus (class or activities) until you receive a negative test result.
  • Continue reporting cases to the School Office. During this busy time, we encourage emailing versus phone calls to allow the Nurse and Office to focus on in-person student care. We will continue to follow the updated guidelines on isolation for positive cases.
  • Get vaccinated and boosted, if eligible. The CDC states that vaccination is the most effective defense against the spread and symptoms of COVID-19 in schools, homes and in the community.

Park Hill is committed to doing our part to keep the health and safety of our community a top priority. We will continue to follow protocols on masking, keep all common areas clean and disinfected and encourage increased personal hygiene throughout the school.

We thank you for your continued support and will continue to focus on the health and well-being of our PHE community.

Dear PHE Parents:

Thank you for your continued support, patience, and caution as we navigate the ever-changing Covid waters.  Please be safe over this Holiday weekend.

Just a reminder that we do not have school on Monday, 1/17/22 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Please see the Equity section below for additional information about our students and how we honored Dr King’s work and legacy.

Greetings Park Hill Families:

I hope this message finds you well. Needless to say, this was a very unusual week.  The unexpected snow day on Thursday came as quite a surprise.  In addition, we continue to face an uphill battle with Covid and the Omicron variant. As shared in a prior message on Monday, we take the health and safety of our students very seriously. We have modified our approach to lunch, and have increased our safety and cleaning protocols in the school.

In all transparency, we have had many absences this week. We have averaged 10 staff members out each day, some due to positive cases and some due to sick family members. We have also averaged close to 100 students absent each day. This is an extremely high number, but it is for the right reasons. Some of our students are Covid positive, some are experiencing symptoms, and some are doing it out of precaution. We thank all of our parents for the extra measure of caution, as we strive to keep our students safe and our school doors open. Please continue to report any positive cases to our Main Office.

Have a great and safe weekend.

Dear Park Hill Elementary families:

Phew! What a semester!  We made it through masks, Covid, quarantine, random days off, wind storms, threats (today), and more!  We are so proud of your children and all they have accomplished and persevered through thus far.  Thank you ALL for being our partners in this endeavor – it is an honor to work with you and your children.

In addition, thank you for your generosity this Holiday season with our gift card drive. We were able to make sure each donated card made its way into a household that could use a little extra support.

I wish you all a great Winter Break and Happy Holidays.  I hope this time off brings peace and happiness to your families. We will see you back here on Tuesday, January 4th (no school on 1/3).
