Dear PHE Families:

Wishing you a safe and happy holiday weekend.  Regardless of religious practice or belief, I hope this weekend can be a time for family and relaxation for each of you.

As a final message about February’s auction, please be sure to pay any outstanding balances, as this money will be allocated to support our budget for the 22-23 school year.  Here is the information from PTSA – thank you!:

Auction Payment Reminder

If you have yet to pay your invoice, please do so as soon as possible. We prefer payment through cash/check or the PayPal Giving Fund as we do not get charged any transaction fees through that platform. Please note that some bidders were added to buy-a-share parties a few days after the auction and those parties may not have been on your initial invoice. If you signed up for Bourbon & Bonfire, Oktoberfest, Tappa Kegga Beach Party, or any other party that was oversold at the auction and had paid your invoice immediately following the auction, we encourage you to log in to Auctria to determine whether you may have an outstanding balance. The buy-a-share hosts have the full list of attendees and evites or save the dates have started getting sent out. Any remaining auction items or parties/events with open spots are available to purchase online at iheartparkhill.com

Happy Friday PHE Families:

It is hard to believe there are only 8 weeks of school left!  Personally, I am excited for the end of year activities we have planned, and look forward to a strong finish to the school year with all of you.

A quick update on our field and grounds ~ I have spoken to the district, and we plan to have the full field re-sodded in the coming months.  This will include an upgrade to the irrigation system as well.  More details will be shared as information comes in.  Also, the sidewalks and steps around the school (West, North, East) will be repaired and re-concreted over the summer to ensure safer pedestrian access and walk space.  Exciting news!

Hope everyone has a great weekend.  Enjoy this weather.

Greetings PHE Parents and Families:

We are happy to note that there are currently no cases of COVID reported for students or staff members.  We are seeing an increase of other viral and bacterial illnesses though, which is somewhat to be expected after a year-plus of mask wearing.  We encourage parents to continue to be mindful of illness symptoms and keep kids home if there are concerns. Here is a helpful guide to check if you are unsure about whether or not your child should stay home – How sick is too sick guide.

Remember that Sunday is Daylight Savings where our clocks will need to ‘spring forward’ an hour.  We are all excited to enjoy more sunny skies in the evenings!

Also, please be mindful to not block driveways or alleys when parking for pickup and dropoff.  Our kiss and drop lane has been open through all types of weather each morning and it is the most efficient way to get kids safely to the playground.  If you need to park, please leave yourself a few extra minutes to find an appropriate spot.

Have a nice weekend!

Greetings PHE Parents and Families:

I hope this message finds you well.  As you know, we are working collaboratively to return to a “new normal” at school and in our district.  Today marks the end of our first week without the mask mandate.  Thus far, we have not seen an increase in Covid or illnesses, with two known positive family cases and one positive staff member case. These numbers are in line with what we have experienced over the past weeks.  We will continue to keep you updated in our weekly Panther Pages, as will the district through its weekly communications.

I also want to take a moment and share my sincere gratitude for our school and our community.  Last Friday, the PTSA led by Sylvia Doud, Emily Insalaco, and Courtney Swearingen, hosted a very successful Auction. It was a great party with 400+ people joining us at the zoo! We raised $215,000 through the incredible generosity of PHE families and the community! THANK YOU! As the largest fundraiser held by Park Hill Elementary, the auction results exceeded our goals and the money raised will be used to benefit every student at PHE. Thank you to those of you who volunteered your time and talents to make the auction a success! Thank you to those who donated items and events to the auction – we could not have had such success without you!

Have a great weekend.

Good Afternoon PHE Parents-

I am looking forward to seeing you at the Auction this evening.  Thank you for all of your help in making this event happen!

I want to highlight the new Masking policy in DPS starting Monday 2/28.  As of Monday, masks will no longer be required.  We will strongly encourage mask wearing for all persons while in the building, but will not require or enforce their use. DPS will have an email communication sent to all DPS families over the weekend explaining this policy and decision in more detail.  You may direct any questions to your child’s teacher or to me at ken_burdette@dpsk12.org. Please note we will continue with our daily routine of sanitizing classrooms and shared spaces. I encourage parents to talk with their kids about their mask wishes.

Here’s to a great weekend!
