Happy Friday Park Hill Families,
We are done with CMAS! A big shout out to all of our students for their perseverance and hard work. Please note that tomorrow’s school beautification project has been moved to Sunday due to inclement weather. We look forward to seeing our volunteers on Sunday. In addition, we are very excited about the upcoming Super Mega Awesome Dance Party next Thursday. Have a great weekend!

School Beautification project moved to Sunday
Due to a high probability of a wet, snowy day tomorrow, the school beautification project has been changed to Sunday, 4/23 from 10:30am-1:30 pm. We can still use your volunteer help to plant ~50 shrubs and trees! We hope to see you there! Volunteer sign up here. The e-recycling event is still on for 4/22.

School Choice Update
School Choice Round 1 results are expected to be published April 21. Round 2 will open up on April 28. Round 2 applications are processed first-come, first-serve. There is no lottery in Round 2, but priorities are given. If the school has available space, your student will be approved and enrolled for next year. If a waitlist exists, your student will be added to the list in date and time order within your given priority, so waitlist positions may change up or down. If your student is accepted to a school in Round 2, any Round 1 school assignment is relinquished. You will remain on waitlists for any higher-ranked schools.
Next week is Spirit Week - April 24- 28
New PHE Staff Member
I am new to the Park Hill staff, so I wanted to introduce myself! My name is Temple, and I am a facility dog working with Ms. Emily Ward, one of our School Psychologists. I have been training my whole life for this job with the wonderful people at Canine Partners of the Rockies. I have a lot of work to do as the newest member of the PH Psych Team. I will help teach small group lessons in our office and occasional whole class lessons in classrooms. My main mission is to make everyone, kids and grown-ups, smile and feel better even on their worst days. It’s a “ruff” job, and I’m excited to do it!
I begin working full-time at Park Hill on May 12th! When I am able to meet you, you are welcome to say “hi” and ask to pet me. I love a good head scratch! If you are interested in helping me get settled into my new job as the sweetest and fluffiest member of the PH Psych Team, I made a wishlist of a few of my favorite items that I will need while I’m at school! I greatly appreciate any support from wishlist items to extra pets around the school!
Summer tutoring
The office has a list of staff members who have some availability to do summer tutoring. Times, compensation and other details will need to be coordinated by families and the staff members as this is not part of any DPS/PHE program.
Reminder: Yearbook Order Form
Parents! This is the last weekend to purchase a 2022-2023 yearbook! To purchase a Park Hill Elementary yearbook go here. (You will need to create an account and enter your name and select your role as "Parent"). If you are asked for a school passcode (this seems to be intermittent, so if you get through without one, great!), the passcode to enter is: 1016595744853031
*Please consider donating an extra book or two for a student who cannot afford one. Our goal is to provide as many students, and all graduating students, a yearbook!
Parents of 5th graders may also opt to order a tribute (Treering calls this a "recognition ad") for their graduating student. Tributes are for 5th graders only. Parents of 5th graders may purchase a tribute for their graduating 5th grader. Parents can create a tribute from the Treering account by clicking on "Celebrate with an Ad." The size of all tributes will be 1/8 of a page (business card size) and can include text and a photo. Tributes are $15. Tributes are for 5th graders only! Questions: email yearbook@parkhillptsa.com

FREE SPRING ELECTRONICS & PAPER RECYCLING DAY
SATURDAY, APRIL 22, 2023 – FREE SPRING RECYCLING EVENT
Join Us On Earth Day to get rid of your unwanted electronics – from computers, laptops and printers to flat-screen monitors* – keyboards, cell phones, hard-drives (drives are securely destroyed off-site), to game consoles, digital cameras, and batteries... yes batteries! Recycling Lithium ION batteries recovers important resources – lithium, nickel, and cobalt – that would otherwise need to be mined or harvested by environmentally damaging methods.
We’ll have on-site shredding for all your sensitive paper records. Recycling is FREE, Dee & Steve Ciancio are sponsoring all the costs for recycling services and the food truck – they are accepting donations to Park Hill School PTSA (cash or check) to thank us for the use of our facilities. Many recycling companies charge up to $25 per item... So, please be generous! Park Hill PTSA Recycling Donors will get FREE Tacos by Dos Gringo’s food truck at the event, with Dee & Steve’s compliments.
