Happy Friday Park Hill Families,
I think I speak for everyone when I say we are happy to have that cold spell over and have some warmer weather this weekend. Along with the warmer weather, we have been working on warmer interactions between students. Students have started the Kindness Campaign this week at school and each morning students have been sharing examples of positive interactions seen around the school and discussing this topic.
As a reminder, PHE’s Black Excellence Committee is sponsoring the Black Children’s Book Week from 2/26-3/04. Click here for more info on this amazing opportunity and event. What do we need from you? We are asking for mystery readers from our families and our community! If you are interested in being a mystery reader in your child's classroom, or within the school, please email Principal Burdette at kburdet@dpsk12.net. In the email, please indicate which classroom(s) you would like to read to. If you have friends or relatives interested, please include it in the email.

School Choice and Universal Pre-K
As a reminder we have just a short time left before the DPS SchoolChoice and Universal Pre-K (ECE only) windows close on February 14th. If you have questions about the process, our office is available to help. All current 5th grade families should be making their middle school elections. We have a link to tours below. All incoming Kinder and ECE-4 families should also be making elections. Families should login to the DPS SchoolChoice website with their DPS Parent Portal credentials. The front office sent out a guide for families via email to help with the School Choice process.
New PHE Calendar
We had to switch accounts for the PHE School Calendar. As always, the new calendar can be found on the school website. You can add it to your personal google calendar using this link.
Next year’s DPS calendar can be found here: 2023-24 DPS School Calendar
Parking
As a reminder, please don’t park in the Staff parking areas (area with chain link fence on the East side of the playground) during drop off and pick up. Many staff members have to leave as soon as school gets out to pick up their own children or have after-school activities and cannot get out if spots are blocked. We also have families and staff that require the use of handicapped spots. Please allow a few minutes to find appropriate parking, and be respectful of our neighbors.

Reminder: Lunar New Year Dragon Parade and Celebration
This year we are planning for the first annual Lunar New Year Dragon Parade and Celebration at Park Hill Elementary. The dragon parade will be on February 10th at 2:45pm. Please mark your calendars. All are welcome! Each class has created a dragon in art class and we will parade around the school with our beautiful homemade dragons! Please have children wear bright colors on that day. Ideally, they can wear the colors of their classroom's dragon. (They will know the colors of their dragon!). Contact Lauren Nonino (lauren_nonino@dpsk12.net) for more information or with questions.

Park Hill Night at the Rapids! - Save the Date
Join us for another night out cheering on our very own Colorado Rapids! This year it will be Saturday April 22nd, Earth Day (soccer balls are spheres, the earth is a sphere - coincidence?)
Amazon Smile is going away
Amazon smile let us know they will be discontinuing their charitable program after February. Thanks to all who raised funds for Park Hill in that way. If you’re looking for another option, Givebacks is a fantastic and flexible alternative!

Park Hill Auction - March 3rd
Hey Party Animals! Registration is live for our March 3, 2023 Park Hill Auction! Please note that each attendee will need their own registration. Once you are registered, take time to browse our Auction catalog to preview some of our items and experiences!
Did you know the party doesn’t end after the auction? One of the easiest (and FUN!) ways to show your support the night of the auction is to sign up for Buy-A-Shares! What is a Buy-A-Share? It's a party hosted by a family (or families) for kids, adults or families. At the auction, a specific number of tickets (or “shares”) to the event will be sold. Dates and an explanation of the party will be described on the sign-up sheet at the auction. These parties are a great way to meet other PH parents and students! From beach parties, dad's night out at the Rockies, moms and mimosas, progressive dinners, tea parties, pizza & movie nights, and more, you’ll be sure to find something fun for you and/or your child to attend!
Interested in hosting a Buy-a-Share party? Have any questions, have an item to donate, or want to brainstorm an idea? Email us at auction@parkhillptsa.com.
Please visit: iheartparkhill.com for registration and to donate
