Panther Pages, May 17, 2024

Happy Friday PHE Families:

I sincerely hope everyone is enjoying these Spring days.  Our building has been bustling with students, parents, special guests, performances, and countless other activities.  One of the more unique opportunities was shared by our 5th grade students. They took RTD downtown and met the Mayor and City Council reps.

I wanted to pass along that we are using a small chunk of our fundraising dollars to upgrade some of the audio systems in our historic auditorium based on parent feedback.  While the stage was well designed for acoustics back in 1928, we look forward to modernizing things a bit.

Have a nice weekend PHE.

-Ken Burdette, Principal

Last day of YMCA before/after care

A reminder that YMCA’s last day for this school year is next Friday, May 24.

Coaches Needed for Girls on the Run - Fall 2024!

Interested in coaching Girls on the Run?  It is a great program for girls and very popular at Park Hill. I am looking for a few more volunteer coaches for fall for our Girls on the Run program. If you want to find out more information about what is involved with coaching, contact Mrs. Horeis at kcupp@dpsk12.net and check out at this site: http://parkhillpe.weebly.com/girls-on-the-run.html.

Reminder: Early Bird Registration through May 24

Please take a moment to complete Early Bird registration for your student(s), if you haven’t done so already.  Registration is the annual process of providing and updating student and family information on file, including emergency contacts, health information and more. Registration can only be completed by the parent/guardian listed in the primary household of the student record.  Registration is mandatory for all families.  Thank you to the families that have completed this at this time!

Reminder: A Wrinkle in Time Performance & tickets

The Panther Players present their spring 2024 production of “A Wrinkle in Time” on Wednesday, May 22nd at 6:30 PM. Along the way, Meg might just find herself too. Use this link to RSVP for tickets:  A Wrinkle in Time - RSVP Link

Reminder: New Attendance System for 2024-25

Next year we will be implementing a new Attendance system that the district rolled out last year.  We encourage parents to start using the system now, but the Google Form on the Park Hill website will still be active for the remainder of the year.

We’ve found that the mobile app is the easiest way for families to access the attendance system.  Here is a quick guide on how to get this setup for the first time on your mobile device.  Note: This attendance system should work for other DPS schools and also gives access to grades and student related items.  Please take a moment to get the app setup on your phone now so you’re ready to use it when needed!

Mindfulness at Park Hill

This week's Mindfulness is about the Stanford Marshmallow Experiment and the ability to control our own attention. Mindfulness is all about learning to control our attention. Mindfulness is paying attention on purpose. By practicing Mindfulness you get better at controlling your impulses. One of the best things our children can do for our future success is get better at controlling their impulses and attention. If you are short on time, skip to Part 2 (at the 5:20 mark in the video) or do this week's Mindfulness in two sessions. For younger students (K-1, you might want to just do the Mindfulness practice Part 2).  Here is this week's video, Present Moment Mindfulness.  You can access the entire video library HERE.  If you have questions or suggestions, reach out to me at SustainableThree@gmail.com or #303-898-9496.
