Happy Friday PHE Families:

There was a lot of excitement at school this week with Field Day!  On top of students being outside and enjoying fun events, we loved seeing so many parents/families come out and spend time with their students.  I’m really appreciative of our volunteers and staff that helped to make the event a fun two days for students.  It takes a ton of effort from all involved!

As a quick aside, we tend to see a variety of emotions this time of year.  Some students see the finish line approaching and start to push on rules and boundaries.  A kind reminder to try and make sure kids get a good night sleep, have breakfast in the morning at home or in the cafeteria, and try to discuss family expectations around being kind, being a good classmate and following class rules.  We appreciate the team effort as we wind down these last few days of school.

Lastly, we have closed the process for placing students into classes for next school year. Our teachers have been very thoughtful and intentional with class placements, and we ask that you trust the process. You will be notified by email of placements by the end of the weekend after school lets out.

Enjoy this Memorial Day weekend and we will see students back on Tuesday!

Talent Show on May 29

The 5th Grade Talent Show is on Wednesday, May 29th at 6:00pm in the Auditorium.  All students and families are welcome to attend.

Last day of YMCA before/after care was today

A reminder that YMCA’s last day for this school year is today - Friday, May 24.

Early Bird Registration - Please Complete as soon as possible!!

The district has extended our early bird registration to June 5.  Registration is the annual process of providing and updating student and family information on file, including emergency contacts, health information and more. This process is different from SchoolChoice or PreEnrollment, and is mandatory for all returning DPS students/families.  Registration can only be completed by the parent/guardian listed in the primary household of the student record.

The school's budget is set based on completed registrations and attendance during the October count window, so this is critical to our school's well-being.  Completing this at this time saves the Office staff from having to contact families individually and having them come into the office when school starts to fill out paperwork!  Thanks for your time and helping us save some trees!

Enrichments for 2024-25 school year

Enrichments will look a bit different next year. We are partnering with the district's Extended Learning and Community Schools (ELCS) program to coordinate Enrichments. ELCS serves 52 schools across the district.  Partnering with ELCS will help to streamline the enrichment signup and payment process, offer new vendors, and reduce the burden on our staff with managing this process.

For those who are yet to create a SchoolCare Works account, please take a moment to do so by following the provided link - select New Families Create an account, select Park Hill, and complete the questions. Families with students at other schools that have use ELCS/Discovery Link programs will need to add their PHEs students into their SchoolCare Works account. Brochures containing comprehensive program information will be distributed via SchoolCare Works on July 16th. Registration will officially open on August 7 at 6 am and will conclude on August 21 at 10 pm.

Please pickup Medications in the Office

If your student has medication in the Health Office, a parent or guardian will need to pick up all medications by 12:30PM on Wednesday June 5th. If arrangements have not been made by this time, all remaining medications will be disposed of. Medications cannot be sent home with students. If your child is participating in a summer program, these will not be automatically transferred. Parents will need to pick up the medicine from Park Hill and then give it to the summer school site on the first day. We will need a new form completed for next year so please be mindful of this if you visit your pediatrician over the summer. Reach out to our school nurses at (720-424-4915) or wendy_harper@dpsk12.net

Mindfulness at Park Hill

This Mindfulness meditation is about the neuroscience of Mindfulness meditation. Both EEG and MRI studies have shown that our brains are changeable through neuroplasticity. The positive changes Mindfulness meditation causes can be seen in these scans. Let's geek out this week with the Science of Mindfulness! For younger grades (K-1), you might skip to the meditation at 5:53.  Here is this week's video, The Science of Mindfulness.  You can access the entire video library HERE.  If you have questions or suggestions, reach out to me at SustainableThree@gmail.com or #303-898-9496.
