Reminder: Halloween Parade and Costumes
* Halloween falls on Monday, October 31st
* Students will come to school in minimal costumes. Any accessories can be added after lunch/recess.
* We will host an afternoon Halloween Parade. The parade will start at 1:30pm, with class parties and gatherings afterwards. Look for information from room parents and teachers.
* Costumes may not include weapons or blood.
* Masks may be worn for the parade, but not during class time or lunch/recess.
* Please remember that cultures aren’t costumes. Follow this link for a flier that will help ensure we create a safe school community for ALL students on Halloween.
* We will hold a modified Specials schedule that day so every class still has Specials.
* Students can opt out and alternate activities are available.

PHE Ofrenda - We plan to install our community ofrenda for Día de los Muertos at the school and it will be outdoors this year. Below are some ways that your students and family can participate and pay tribute to their dearly departed. Interested students and families can create an ofrenda (offering) for a deceased loved-one, a famous person you admire, a pet, or a group of people. Some other ways to contribute to our ofrenda include:
Help us set up the ofrenda after school on the afternoon of Monday, Oct. 31st or the morning of Tuesday, November 1st.
Bring fruits or foods to place on the OFRENDA on the morning of November 1st or 2nd. (some typical items would be oranges, avocados, apples, tamales, candies etc.)
Make tissue-paper FLORES or PAPEL PICADO
Please let Ms Acosta know if you have any questions or other suggestions for our ALTAR!

School Sponsorship
We love our community and have openings for community businesses to sponsor Park Hill Elementary for this academic year. Do you have a business or know of someone who does? School sponsors receive advertising at the school, on the PTSA webpage, as well as in the newsletter, social media and on student t-shirts that are given to each student. There are four levels of sponsorship with different benefits associated with each. Please see this document for more information and email sponsorship@parkhillptsa.com if you are interested in becoming a sponsor or know of someone who might be.
